Indian River Relay!
Yesterday we had our annual regatta, the Indian River Relay!
Teams of four were made and after Rock-Paper-Scissoring for which team gets what boat, they each made a game plan for the relay! This year all rowers had to wear a mask when helping each other in and out of the boats and to sanitize the grips, seat, and footstops after each rower completed their segment of the race! They lined up on the green footprints on the dock and when the time began both teams were quick to start with sanitizing each member’s hands and getting rowers launched! Rowers raced 20/20’s around the first green buoy on Indian River rowing about 600m each!
This year we had rowers of all ages competing for the best time and the prize of having their hands painted on the dock!
Muskoka Poker Run!
Registration is now open! REGISTER HERE!
The Muskoka Poker Run is THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 15! This year the Poker Run will be an organized long group row instead of a race! Rowers can take any shell for the 22km singles-only race (both racing shells and open water shells are welcome!) It starts in Port Carling and follows the top of Lake Muskoka on a loop, finishing back in Port Carling!
We will meet at Hannah Park at 7:00am and launch boats immediately. Rowers brining their own shells will wet launch at Hannah Park and meet the rowers launching from Hatchets along the river! Groups of variable speed will be organized and we will begin to head down the river at 7:30am!
During the row, if boats fall behind in speed, the coach boats will decide with the rowers to have them transition to the next group by waiting at one of the 5 check points (same as laid out on the regatta map).
For a refresher on the course see the video below from previous years for the race. We won’t be setting up checkpoints this year but we will have several safety boats following along with the groups!
