We are LESS THAN 2 WEEKS away from our first day of rowing! We are really excited to get back on the water, and especially, to see all of you again!
Spring Newsletter Recap!
We sent out lots of info in our April Newsletter, but a few quick reminders:
Our first day of rowing will be SATURDAY JUNE 29th!
50% OFF Learn to Rows will extend until the end of July this year instead of the end of June - if you haven’t rowed in years and would like a refresher, this is actually the best way to get back into it - and if you have friends who would like to learn to row - this is their chance!
We are no longer using our online registration system, we’re going back to the good old fashion manual registration process. Just email, text or call me and let me know how you’d like to row this year. The season is so short, and it’s so great to connect with all of you, I’d rather save the money and have real conversations with all of you! And then it’s one less login for everyone to remember.
August 10th and August 11th will be our Hatchets Hat Trick weekend. Checkout details about the Muskoka Poker Run, the Indian River Relay and the Row to Windermere on that weekend on our EVENTS page online.
Welcome to Holly Strickland, who will be coaching and rowing with us this summer!
Holly Strickland grew up in Huntsville and returned after university with her husband, Jon. Holly is both an elementary school teacher as well as an active outdoor sports coach and participant. In her youth, she competed provincially and nationally in mountain biking and nordic skiing and over the years has participated in a variety of sports and outdoor activities, including rowing. Holly is an avid nordic skier and holds many coaching certifications in the sport, as well as other national coaching certifications which apply to all sports. We met Holly at Arrowhead Provincial Park while our kids were skiing in programs there. For the last 6 six seasons, Holly has coached Arrowhead Nordic's Race Crew with her husband at Arrowhead. Together they also coach the Southern Ontario District ski team. Holly will be joining us on Mondays and Tuesdays this summer, where she will be quickly coming up to speed on all things rowing. She’ll be dusting off her own rowing skills, while bringing with her a great deal of experience in coaching linear sports, creating training programs and bringing a positive influence to all those around her. We’re thrilled she’ll be joining our coaching team! Her daughter, Braunwyn, will also be joining us to learn to row and to volunteer this summer. We look forward to sharing more about Braunwyn and our other volunteers as we get into the summer!
Welcome Holly!
