It's the third week of summer already! We hope you're enjoying all the sun!

Heads up! Both Kathy and Lily will be gone sporadically over the next few weeks, so if you need to contact one of us, feel free to message or call BOTH of us!

Log Rolling Challenge - Every Saturday at 3 pm

Every Saturday at 3 pm we have a Log Rolling Challenge! Come give it a try, we help two log rollers get set up on the log, and then once both log rollers are ready we see who can stay on the longest! You don't need a lot of experience! Come on out to watch, participate or cheer on all our log rollers!

This Week's Focus is The Catch!

This week's focus is the Catch! The catch is the point in the stroke when the oar is placed in the water. Remember to keep your arms and back straight and strong, keep your heels down and let your blades DROP in the water - listen for the "plop" sound at the Catch!

Distance Challenge

Don't forget to log the km you've rowed on the clipboard next to the desk at the front! Let's see who's rowed the most this summer! At the end of the summer we will count up all the km and the rower with the most km will win the distance challenge!

Don't Forget - The Hatchets Hat-Trick Weekend

Come row (or spectate) one, some, or ALL of the events on August 13 & 14!

The events are:

Muskoka Poker Run

A 22km singles-only race/row, open for both flat water and open water shells. It starts in Port Carling and follows the top of Lake Muskoka on a loop, finishing back in Port Carling. We have a video of the course from a motorboat you can check out.

Let us know if you think you might be up for it!

Indian River Relay

This is our annual local regatta to bring rowers of all abilities together in a sprint relay race. ALL ROWERS (of all skill levels) ARE WELCOME! Teams of 4 of mixed abilities are created on the day of the race from the registered rowers. Racing takes place in two touring singles, in which teammates take turns rowing 600m. The fastest team time for the day wins a big high five and the painting of their hand prints on the dock! Sign up here!

Row to Windermere

This is a long row where we begin and end in Port Carling. We start by rowing up through the locks in Port Carling, then we wind our way through many islands on Lake Rosseau to end up at Windermere beach for a rest, washroom break, and some refreshments.

If you think you might be up for this row - let us know or sign up here!

Do you have any kids in your life - grandkids, nieces, nephews? Did you know that we start kids rowing at age 8? Give them a chance to learn this amazing sport for life!
