This Year's Indian River Relay is
Coming up Fast!
This Tuesday, July 27th is this year's Indian River Relay! This is our annual local regatta to bring rowers of all abilities together in a sprint relay race. We will make teams of 4 rowers of mixed abilities and racing will take place in two touring singles. Teammates will take turns rowing 600m and the fastest team time for the day wins a big high five and the painting of their hand prints on the dock!
The race starts at 9am, with boats on the dock at 8am for those who want to test them out.
We always have lots of refreshments out for before/during/after the event, and if you’d like to bring something to share feel free (no nuts please)!
Registration is now open, sign up here!
This Week!
This week's focus is GRIP!
Proper grip is important for maintaining balance and for clean catches and releases.
Make sure to keep a firm yet relaxed grip on the handle while rolling the oar handle from the top of your palms to your fingers during the recovery.
Check out the whiteboard on the wall at the back of Hatchets to see our Focus of the Week for new safety reminders and tips on technique every week!
The Muskoka Poker Run is on Saturday, July 24
This is a 22km race/row, open for both flat water and open water shells, with about 40% being suitable for flatwater shells and 60% better suited to open water shells - you choose:). It starts in Port Carling and follows the top of Lake Muskoka on a loop, finishing back in Port Carling.
