Hatchets Hat Trick Weekend!
Our Hatchets Hat Trick weekend is right around the corner, in preparation we are repainting the hand and footprints for the Indian River Relay. Is this your year to get YOUR hand print painted on the end of the dock?

MUSKOKA POKER RUN
A 22km singles-only race/row, open for both flat water and open water shells. It starts in Port Carling and follows the top of Lake Muskoka on a loop, finishing back in Port Carling. We have a video of the course from a motorboat you can check out. Sign up in person or Sign up online here!
INDIAN RIVER RELAY
This is our annual local regatta to bring rowers of all abilities together in a sprint relay race. ALL ROWERS (of all skill levels) ARE WELCOME! Teams of 4 of mixed abilities are created on the day of the race from the registered rowers. Racing takes place in two touring singles, in which teammates take turns rowing 600m. The fastest team time for the day wins a big high five and the painting of their hand prints on the dock! SIgn up in person or Sign up online here!
ROW TO WINDERMERE
This is a long row where we begin and end in Port Carling. We start by rowing up through the locks in Port Carling, then we wind our way through many islands on Lake Rosseau to end up at Windermere beach for a rest, washroom break, and some refreshments.

HIGH VIS/UniSuits - ORDERS DUE THIS WEEK!
The Hatchets Rowing Centre team store at JLRacing is now open. At the JL Team Store site, you can use your own credit card to order required team uniform items as well as training gear. Everyone MUST get their order in by end of day on August 10th, 2023. Orders are set to ship in bulk to the team coordinator but you will be asked to input a shipping address with your order. The shipping rate on each order is your portion of the bulk shipping rate based on the size of your order.
If you miss the store closing date, you will need to order your uniform as an individual, directly from JL. For late orders, pricing and shipping will be different than a team purchase.
There is information on the site to help you place your order, including a size guide for the garments. If you have further questions about garment sizing then please contact customerservice@jlracing.com.

This Week's Focus is the Release
This week's focus is the release! The release is the part of the stroke where the blade comes out of the water at the end of the drive. Checkout our tips and what to think about with your body and with the blade above.
HATCHETS LEADERBOARD UPDATE
Many of our rowers have now shot past the 200km mark in the distance challenge. Many are thinking that 300km is a good goal by the end of the summer. For those doing the Poker Run or Row to Windermere this coming weekend, many kms will be added to their tally!
In the Chinup world, we’ve had many staff from the restaurants and retail in our building giving us a run for our money. The current number 1 spot is still 25 chinups, but we’ve had many rowers who could only do 1 or 2 now up to close to 10 consecutively.
Our fish game record holder is still the same, but many are getting closer to taking the number 1 spot. Check it out above.
