Hatchets Leaderboard Results

Our LeaderBoard Final Results!

Robin blew the fish out of the wtaer with a huge lead right from the beginning of the season.

Monte came from behind and passed everyone for kms, we tried to pass him in the last few days but couldn’t quite catch him. Congrats to all for all the kms on the water!

As with the fish game, Aston established his lead early for the chinups, but many of us doubled, tripled or quadrupled our chinup numbers through the season!

Hatchets Fall Distance Challenge

Join our distance challenge this fall by creating a free STRAVA account on your phone (free app), and looking for the “Hatchets Fall Distance Challenge” under GROUPS > ACTIVE. The challenge will run from September 5th - December 31st, 2023 and we will compete to see who can log the most distance, time or elevation change during the challenge window. Activities include pretty much any that human power is required to do! Rowing, hiking, biking, running, walking, paddling, skating, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, skateboarding, swimming, wheel chair, cross fit, workout classes, whatever you have to move your body to make happen. We didn’t include sailing or similar less body power dependent activities….somehow with Jeremy and Kathy sailing around Georgian Bay in September this didn’t seem quite fair. GAME ON! Join the challenge before September 5th! Shoot Kathy an email (kathy@hatchetsrowing.com) if you need help registering on Strava and finding the challenge. ***You don’t have to have your phone record workouts, you can enter them manually by pressing the + circle at the top and adding an activity manually after the fact.

This Year’s Hatchets Hat Trick Weekend

Muskoka Poker Run

Well the first day of the Hatchets Hat Trick weekend came with some challenging weather. We awoke to lots of rain and a decent amount of wind……but as we always say, this is how memories are made. We were able to get just over 16km of rowing in, between the wind and the impending storm brewing. Marlowe braved the safety boat while Monte, Kathy, Jeremy, Blake and Javier went out on Lake Muskoka in singles. The coffee was hot and the company was great, which helped make the morning a fun success despite the weather. Also, Monte, Blake and Kathy were able to continue to log more kms to try to get ahead of Laurie who was in the lead for kms - a very important factor for all three….

Indian River Relay

Though the thunder and lightning mostly held off for our Poker Run, there was no way we could go on the water for the Indian River Relay with the cats, dogs and whatever else coming down from the sky on Saturday. We opted for an impromptu erg challenge for the few who came to see if we could go out. Our Junior Scullers team of Ben, Gavin, Oliver and Robin took us on for a team relay challenge and they will be the ones with their hand prints on the dock this year. Thanks Amanda, Monte and Marlowe for giving them a reason to row hard!

Row to Windermere

After a well-deserved sleep-in on Sunday, we then took on the Row to Windermere with a quad and a double! Wendy, Robin, Blake and Sheila started off in the quad with Gavin as the Coxie and David and Monte took on the new 23/20 open water double. After a bit of switching around, we made a last minute decision to stop at David’s for lunch instead of Windermere and what a great decision it turned out to be. We were hosted by David’s wife, daughter and grand-daughter and had just a great time. Blake and Wendy took on the double on the way back with Kathy, Monte, David and Sheila in the quad and Tasha coxing. After the rain the day before, this was a great long row to cap the weekend.

Hatchets Weekly Focuses!

Here are our focuses from the second half of the summer! We’ve just been too busy to post them! Somehow we’ve missed the RECOVERY…..we had it up…but no documentation of it. In any case, enjoy the read through these white boards if you didn’t get a chance to look at them through the season. We’ll be revisiting again next season!

2023 Pictures

We’ve posted lots of fun and beautiful pictures of YOU rowing with us! Though we didn’t capture everyone, we sure did get a lot of great shots of our rowers and our lovely waterway this year.
